CAF To Investigate Political Statement Made During CHAN 2023 Opening Ceremony

The Confederations of African Football (CAF) has taken steps to nib the political altercations that stained the opening day of the CHAN tournament by issuing a statement on the political remarks at the opening ceremony of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship Algeria 2022.

CAF has stated that it is under an obligation and a duty, in accordance with its Regulations and Statutes and those of FIFA not to participate or get involved in politics and to be neutral on matters that border on politics.

Africa’s football governing body in the statement said it has been made aware of certain political statements that were made during the opening ceremony of the ongoing CHAN tournament in Algeria.

CAF’s statement refuted the political statements made, stating that they are not theirs and do not reflect the views and opinions of the governing body which is a politically neutral organization.
