Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has come in for criticism for his failure to act on his threat of publicly declaring his presidential candidate of choice for the 2023 general election and campaigning for the said candidate.
The governor pledged before the people of Rivers last year, that he would embark on a state-to-state campaign for his candidate of choice whom he will announce by the end of January 2023.
The month of January has steadily worn off but the outspoken Governor is yet to make the public disclosure of his candidate of choice.
It has been noticed that some of his aides have been sharing photos of APC’s presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu with the inscription “is about time” recently.
Nyesom Wike has in a recent interview said that although he said he would make public his preferred candidate, he did not reveal the means by which he would do that.
He is a part of five PDP governors who have come to be known as the G5 for expressing their grievances towards the leadership for orchestrating what they called an all-North candidacy in the presidential election and chairman of the party.
