The transgender community has been empowered by Dave Chappelle’s Emmy nomination for a stand-up special that some have been criticized as being transphobic, but not in the way you might expect.
In an interview with Ashlee Marie Preston by TMZ in Los Angeles to find out her opinion about the comedian receiving a Primetime Emmy nomination for Netflix’s “The Closer,” which, as you may know, caused numerous protests from Netflix employees.
Although she is not a Netflix employee, Preston says she and other members of the transgender and LGBTQ community have an action plan, the specifics of which she is purposefully withholding but assures us we will see shortly as a reaction.
Watch the footage; it appears that Ashlee and some others are set to launch a campaign or announcement that promotes LGBT-friendly entertainment. According to Ashlee, the industry needs more of this to battle the detrimental POVs Dave voiced in “Closer.”
