Avie Lee Owens Parton and Robert Lee Parton, parent’s of Dolly Parton, got married in 1939, when Avie was 15 and Robert was 17.
The couple together had 12 children; Willadeene, David, Coy Denver, Bobby Lee, Stella, Cassie Nan, Randy, Larry, Floyd, Freida Estelle, Rachel and Dolly Rebecca Parton.
Dolly’s mother, Avie Lee Owens, was a stay home mom who took good care of her children. She was known to have song old “English, Irish, Welsh, folk songs to entertain her children.
However, her father worked in the mountains of East Tennessee as a sharecropper during his early adulthood which he later acquired his own small land for a tobacco farm, while raising livestock at the same time.

In 2000 at the age of 79 and after several complications of one or more strokes, the Patriarch of the Parton family, Robert Lee Parton died at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville and in 2003, the 80-year-old Avie Lee also died.
