Ex-Ghana Midfielder Charles Taylor Advises Hudson-Odoi Against Playing For The Black Stars

Former Ghana international Charles Taylor has advised English-born Callum Hudson-Odoi to reject any attempts by the FA to play for the Black Stars.

Hudson-Odoi sparked reports of a potential international career switch after arriving in Ghana few weeks ago.

He visited Ghana President, Nana Akufo-Addo in the presence of Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif and FA Capo Kurt Okraku, where the country’s head charged all stakeholders involved to persuade the 20-year-old to switch allegiance.

However, Taylor has told the Chelsea winger to concentrate on his career with the three lions of England.

If Odoi is listening to me, I will advise him not to think of playing for the Black Stars. He should continue playing for England even if it is under 100, he should play for them than to play for the Black Stars. Ghana is ending career,” Taylor told Angel TV.

Hudson-Odoi earlier explained why he picked England over Ghana, but has also not shut the door completely on the West African powerhouse.

I think obviously when you’re young, you have the opportunity to play for England throughout all the years, from under 15 to under 16 all the way up,” he said on his arrival in Ghana.

When they obviously gave me the opportunity to come, I was in the country already. It’s something that I already had in my mind, set on already playing for England.”
