Black Stars’ captain Thomas Partey is likely to play for Arsenal against Leeds United on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium after missing Ghana’s game against Angola due to injury.
Partey did not play any role in Ghana’s match against Angola in Luanda in which the Black Stars earn a 1-1 draw in a very cagey 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers encounter.
It was revealed by the head coach of the Black Stars after the game that the defensive midfielder sustained a slight injury in the first-leg encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Chris Hughton said Thomas has some small injury issues and we felt it was too big of a risk to start him. Thomas Partey trained with his teammates on Thursday morning ahead of their game against Leeds.
It is not clear if the former Athletico Madrid midfield will undergo a last-minute fitness test to confirm his readiness for the match.
Thomas Partey has been an integral part of Arsenal’s premier league title charge with consistent performances in the current.
Arsenal is currently eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.
