Ghana youngster Kwadwo Opoku was in fine form as his team Los Angeles FC emerged winners in an enthralling 3-2 win over Portland Timbers at the BMO Stadium with him scoring the winning goal for his side.
The Ghanaian was the most outstanding player in the game, recording 47 touches, having 13 passes completed out of 16, winning 11 duels on the ground, and having four successful ball recoveries.
Of the four tackles Opoku made throughout the game, he won three and successfully dribbled past an opponent twice. He also won a penalty which was converted by Vela.
Kwadwo Opoku’s goal is his first of the 2023 MLS season.
Italy and Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini opened the scoring for LAFC in the 24th minute, with Carlos Vela scoring from the spot in the 34th minute before Opoku put the icing on the cake in the 52nd minute.
Portland Timbers put in a great effort to mount a comeback with goals from Evandro Ferreira and Cristhian Paredes not being enough to earn them a draw or victory.
Los Angeles FC currently is placed 4th in the MLS Western Conference standings.
