He Spoiled A Lot Of Chances But His General Play Was Good – Black Meteors Coach Ibrahim Tanko Defends Afriyie Barnieh

Ibrahim Tanko, the head coach of the Ghana U23 team, has come to the defense of forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh after he wasted several scoring opportunities in the game against the Algeria U23 team on Tuesday.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh who is the Black Meteors captain returned to the team from suspension and started for the side today and could have ended the game with a hat trick but he failed to take the many chances that fell to him.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko, who spoke to the media after the match admitted that it is true Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was wasteful in front of the goal.

He was however quick to add that the general play of the attacker was good and helped the team.

Ibrahim Tanko said he thought Barnieh did well though he missed a lot of chances his general play was good.

He added that one cannot just use one game to kill a player, he just moved to Europe and is sure he will settle well at his club before the tournament.

Ghana has secured qualification for the 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be hosted in Morocco, with a 2-1 aggregate win over Algeria.
