The first show premiered on February 27, 2013, and originally was telecast on Slice. Following the second season, the show was moved to Global. The show is produced by Endemol along with Insight Productions. Arisa Cox was hired as host of the show.

The last HouseGuest remaining wins a grand prize of CA$100,000, as well as additional prizes from the show sponsors. A weekly stipend will be provided for each participant for each week that he or she remains in the Big Brother Canada House.
