Former Black Stars assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko has denied claims of undermining his former boss Kwesi Appiah which led to his sacking.
Ibrahim Tanko was relieved of his role in 2019 because of suspicions of him undermining then-head coach of the Black Stars James Kwasi Appiah after working with him for two years.
According to the former Ghana International those claims were just rumors and fabrications which had no iota of truth and later turned out to be false.
“I heard a lot of things. In Ghana we talk a lot, that Kwasi said I was undermining because I wanted his job,” Tanko said, as reported by Citi Sports.
“I never did that but I did not want to argue with him. Why do I have to undermine you after working with you for two years?
“I know there are a lot of people whose job it is to spread rumors just to earn favors.
“I can assure you that afterward coach Kwasi Appiah has found out the truth. He knows that what he said was not the truth.”
Tanko was replaced by Charles Kwabla Akonnor who was later appointed head coach of the Black Stars after Kwesi Appiah was sacked from the job following Ghana’s abysmal performance at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ibrahim Tanko currently heads the Ghana Team B side also known as the Black Stars B.
