Jermaine Lamarr Cole is an American-German rapper, and record producer who was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2020 Grammy Awards. Cole is regarded as one of the most influential rappers of his generation.
Cole did not have a blissful childhood as other children had as his father left his mother when he was only 8 months old. Cole’s mother, Kay, was a single parent to two boys and could hardly fend for her two sons. After the divorce, the family of three had to move out to stay at a Trailer park at Spring Lake.
Cole’s mother later moved with her two sons to Fayetteville, North Carolina after she got together with his stepfather. Cole was a determined person from childhood and always wanted to be the best at whatever he did thus, he graduated high school with a GPA of 4.2 which earned him a scholarship to St. John’s University in New York City.
Cole, however, developed his love for music at a very tender age and even joined the Terry Sanford Orchestra as a chair violinist until 2003.
Upon graduating high school, Cole decided his chances of securing a recording contract would be better in New York thus, he moved to New York to further his studies at the University where he graduated with Magna cum laude in Communication and Business.
Cole later worked in various part-time jobs which include; working as a salesman for a Newspaper, a bill collector, a file clerk, and a kangaroo mascot at a skating rink.
