JK Rowling has promised to buy all of Macy Gray’s back catalogue following her ‘transphobic comments’ which has earned her backlash from fans and critics.
Last night, the singer who is most known for her 1999 single I Try made an appearance on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored when he once more questioned his guest about trans women.
The 57-year-old former Good Morning Britain host asked Gray, 54, what her views on what a woman is, adding that most celebs “are too terrified to even say what they think a woman is.”
In response, Gray said that changing a few body parts does not make someone a woman even though she has no problem referring to someone as a woman if that is what they prefer.
“I totally agree. And I will say this and everyone’s gonna hate me but as a woman, just because you go change your [body] parts, doesn’t make you a woman, sorry. I know that for a fact. Like if you want me to call you a her, I will, ‘cause that’s what you want, but that doesn’t make you a woman just ‘cause I call you a her and just because you got a surgery.”
Sharing a tweet by India Willoughby which said Macy had killed what’s left of her career, JK Rowling said that she was going to ensure she buys Macy’s entire catalogue.
