Lionel Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo has penned a heartwarming message to her husband following Argentina’s triumph at the 2022 World cup in Qatar.
Messi finally laid his hands on the trophy he wanted for so long after a nail-biting, end-to-end game against the defending champions France at the Lusail Stadium.
The South American side took the lead via the penalty spot with Messi scoring his sixth goal of the tournament. Angel Di Maria quickly added a second one before the break.
However, with 10 minutes to go, Messi’s teammate Kylian Mbappe turned on in style to score a quickfire double to force the game into extra time where he and Messi scored again to take the game to shootouts.
Roccuzzo, who has been in Qatar the entire time of the World Cup with her three sons, took to her Instagram account and wrote:
“WORLD CHAMPIONS.
“I don’t even know how to start… pride is greater than what we feel for you. Thank you for teaching us to never give up, you have fought to the end. You are finally a World Champion. We know that you suffered so many years to get what you wanted.
LET’S GO ARGENTINA”
