Moana Jackson was a New Zealand Māori lawyer specializing in constitutional law, the Treaty of Waitangi and international indigenous issues.
Jackson was of Ngati Kahungunu and Ngati Pourou descent. He co-founded Nga Kaiwhakamarama i Nga Ture in 1987, and he was the director.
Jackson was the son of All Black Everard Jackson and the brother of Syd Jackson. He was affiliated with the iwi of Ngati Kahungunu and Ngati Porou. He was born in Hastings, where he attended Hastings Boys High School and Mayfair Primary School.
After completing his Law and Criminology degree at Victoria University of Wellington, he began teaching Maori language. After graduating in Law and Criminology at Victoria University of Wellington, he continued his studies at Arizona State University.
