Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus made his first start since returning from international break as Ajax were held at home by FC Utrecht.
The 20-year-old started ahead of Davy Klassen, having missed the KNVB Cup final and starting from the bench in their last league match against RKC Waalwijk.
Kudus lasted 56 minutes and was replaced by Davy Klaasen.
FC Utrecht opened the scoring after 13 minutes through Simon Gustafson but the Eredivisie leaders pulled back in the second half.
Edson Alvarez met a cross from the left to cancel FC Utrecht’s lead with 20 minutes left.
Ajax hold a 12 point lead and could wrap up the league with a victory over AZ Alkmaar on Sunday.
Mohammed Kudus will be winning his second title of the season if Ajax beat AZ Alkmaar.
