Nigerians on social media have hailed Ghana’s Sam George for going head-to-head with a former UK lawmaker over Ghana’s quest to criminalize activities of LGBTQ1+
The new anti-LGBT bill which has been laid before parliament awaiting approval has become one of the most topical issues on the internet.
While the discussion got heavily concentrated, Seb Dance, a former UK legislator challenged the bill and entered into a verbal fracas with Sam George, the lawmaker presenting the people of Ningo Prampram in parliament.
The verbal exchanges caught the attention of BBC Pidgin who shared the story and shortly later, it triggered massive reactions from Nigerians.
Many Nigerians applauded Sam George for the bold action he had taken, and wondered if their own lawmakers would have been bold enough to replicate the same vigour.
