Sebastian Korda is an American professional tennis player who was born on July 5, 2000, in Bradenton, Florida, United States.

His career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 37 was achieved on April 15, 2022.

He has won one ATP singles tournament in the 2021 Emilia-Romagna Open. He also won the title of junior in the 2017 Australian Open, 20 years before the time his dad Petr Korda won the senior Australian Open title.

Sebastian Korda is the son of Czech tennis player Petr Korda and the former top 30 player Regina Rajchrtova, with his father being an Australian Open champion and French Open finalist in both singles and doubles.

Sebastian’s younger sisters Jessica and Nelly have both become LPGA golf pros. Korda was a competitive player in junior hockey at the age of 3, however, he decided to move to tennis at 9 when he accompanied his dad at the 2009 US Open.

At the age of 11, he won a golf tournament in Prague, and his sister Nelly was also a participant.

In his debut appearance at the 2022 Australian Open, he recorded his first victory when he defeated the 12th seed Cameron Norrie.

He then defeated Corentin Moutet, in round two, in a five-set tie and a tiebreak super in the fifth set, advancing to 3rd round, for the 1st time in this Major.

In the 2022 Delray Beach Open, Norrie defeated Korda in the quarterfinals.

Korda was a participant in the 2022 Indian Wells Masters in March.

After defeating Thanasi Kokkinakis in the opening round, Korda took on Rafael Nadal in the second round and having served a breadstick during the second set, and having a lead of 5-2 in the final set, he was defeated in an end-to-end tiebreak.

In the 2022 Miami Open, Korda defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Albert Ramos-Vinolas during the opening two rounds, only to be defeated by Miomir Kacmanovic in the third round.

In the 2022 Monte-Carlo Masters, he defeated recent Miami Open champion Carlos Alcaraz for the biggest victory of the season, making it to his third-round. He repaid his loss against Alcaraz during the 2021 Next Generation ATP Finals.

Korda made it to the semifinals in the 2022 Estoril Open, defeating top seed and World No. 10 Felix Auger Aliassime. He also avenged the loss to Acapulco in 2021.

Regina Rajchrtová

Sebastian’s mother, Regina Rajchrtová, married Kordová, a former tennis player from Czechoslovakia who competed for her native country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.

On 1 April 1991 she reached a career world ranking high of 26.

She was born on February 5, 1968, in Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, making her 54 years in 2022.
