Aljazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was killed by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the Israeli occupied West Bank territory, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry on Wednesday.
While covering raids by Israeli forces, she was hit by a bullet and was carried to the hospital in a critical condition. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
She was 51. Abu Akleh was born into a Christian family from Bethlehem, in 1971 in the historic city of Jerusalem.

Having initially applied to study architecture in the Jordan Unisversity of Science and Technology, Abu Akleh had a change of heart and enrolled in Yarmouk University also in Jordan, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in print journalism.
She returned to Palestine after graduating.
Abu Akleh began working for the Aljazeera news network in 1997 after working for Radio Monte Carlo and Voice of Palestine upon her return from studies in Jordan.

There are currently no details whether the Aljazeera journalist left children behind or not, as she was someone who kept her personal life secret.
