Shirley G. Spork was an American professional golfer and one of the founders of the LPGA Tour.
Spork placed second at the 1962 LPGA Championship. She was a teacher for many years, and was awarded the LPGA teacher of the year in the years 1959 and 1984.
Spork also taught with The National Golf Foundation and was an educator at Bowling Green State University. As a golfer, she began in her teens as she continued playing into her late nineties.
Spork was among the 13 founders of the LPGA in the year 1950. She toured across the United Kingdom and France in 1951. She also began teaching golf at the Tamarisk Country Club in Palm Springs, California in 1954.
Not only that, but she also played a role in the establishment of a teaching section in the LPGA that later became it’s Teaching and Club Professional Membership.
She was a participant in the 1962 LPGA Championship, and was placed second. In the mid to late 1970s, Spork worked as an instructor at the National Golf Foundation.
