Italy-based striker Emmanuel Gyasi will start for the Black Stars against South Africa in the absence of Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew.
Jordan has been forced out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match because of the Premier League club’s decision to block their players from travelling to countries on UK’s red list.
And his absence, his likely replacement in the starting lineup is Spezia forward Emmanuel Gyasi who arrived in Ghana camp in great shape.
After two games in Italian Serie A this season, Gyasi has one goal and his work rate continues to improve.
Head coach Charles Akonnor can count on Gyasi for goals against the South Africans as the Black Stars hope for a second win.
Black Stars are on top of Group G after beating Ethiopia 1-0 on Friday.
Gyasi made his Black Stars debut earlier this year in Johannesburg against the same opponent that the Black Stars will be facing on Monday evening.
After missing the 2018 event in Russia, Ghana has set their sights on returning to the World Cup.
The Black Stars reached the world showpiece in Germany 2006 where they were making their first appearance.
They then went on to reach the Round of 16.
They secured a qualification ticket for the South African 2010 edition. This campaign saw them reach the quarter-finals, where they were defeated by Uruguay.
They made their third consecutive appearance at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but they were forced to exit at the group stage for the first time.
