Standard of Ghana Premier League Has Fallen – Dan Owusu

Ghana football legend Dan Owusu has said that the standard of football in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) has fallen as compared to previous years.

it is common knowledge that some Ghanaians have shifted their focus from the local league to a foreign league due to what they say is due to the lack of competitiveness in the league.

In recent years, the premier league has consistently recorded low turnouts across various stadia in the country, a phenomenon Dan Owuwu, a three-time Premier League goal king, says is due to the low quality of players.

Speaking in an interview with Bryt FM, the former striker said that he believes everything has gone downhill in the country, including the economy, education, and sports.

He said that during his playing days, fans had players they adored and wanted to watch at the stadium but the situation has changed due to the fallen standard of the league.

Dan Owusu believes that there are low turnouts for games involving giants like Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko because there is nothing good to watch.
