Celebrated on the 27th of April each year, Freedom Day honors the anniversary of South Africa’s first non-racial election of 1994 and pays homage to the country’s liberation from Apartheid rule, where the minority exercised prejudice political power over the majority of the country.
It is actually a National Day in South Africa and it is a day of glory and remembrance for all South Africans that marks the end of the period of colonialism and Apartheid.
South Africans all over the world join the celebration and make it a memorable one.
In other news, at least four people have been confirmed dead after two aircraft collided in mid-air.
The incident reportedly occurred near Grasmere, south of Gauteng and at the moment, authorities are investigating what actually brought about the accident.
A spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority, Kabelo Ledwaba has indicated that the investigation was still in its early stages.
