Gospel music producer and entertainment pundit, Kwesi Ernest, believes that there is a wave blowing through Ghana’s gospel music circles.
His pronouncements come in the wake of the nominations of gospel artists, Joe Mettle, and Piesie Esther for the Artist of the Year category in the forthcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards also known as the VGMAs.
Kwesi Ernest believes that the nominations are a sign that the gospel music industry is experiencing some growth and development.
He was commenting on the growth of the gospel music industry in Ghana in an interview with Berla Mundi on TV3’s morning show, The New Day.
The music producer said for this year, the Artiste of the Year category, we have two gospel artists in there, Piesie and Joe Mettle. It then goes to tell you that there is something happening in the gospel community which maybe some of the industry persons are not looking at it carefully”.
He is also of the strong opinion that if the ‘Way3 Me Yie’ hitmaker, Piesie Esther wins the 2023 Vodafone Artist of the Year award, her win cannot be contested by anyone.
Ernest insists that from where he sits now, for the years 2022, and 2023, Piesie Esther’s win of the overall artiste of the year is not negotiable. Nobody can contest it not even the highest professors of literature can even define that.
