George Afriyie, the owner of Planners Athletic, has said that there is a need for healthy competition in Ghana’s Premier League for it to be attractive.
Throwing light on his assertions, he explained that healthy competition means match results are recorded on the pitch, and not decided before the start of matches.
It is believed that some matches in Ghana Premier League are decided by referees who offer bad officiating in exchange for money from some clubs.
While on Asempa FM’s dialogue series, George Afriyie said that the issue of match manipulation can be resolved if the government invests money into the local league.
He said If our league will be exciting, then there should be healthy competition.
He went on to add that a healthy competition in the sense that this match we are going to play has not been decided already; it will end 3-2 and 3-2 this team will win.
The former FA vice president concluded that if we invest money into the game, the government will also turn one eye to check some of these things because its money is also involved in the product.
