Toby Keith Passed Away; Cause of Death

Toby Keith Covel, known professionally as Toby Keith, who was an American country music singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer has passed away at the age of 62.

In June 2022, Keith disclosed that he had received a diagnosis of stomach cancer toward the end of the preceding year, and had been undergoing treatment including chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery for the past six months. By December 2022, Keith stated in a press release that his struggle with cancer had been “quite debilitating”.

Toby Keith peacefully passed away in his sleep on February 5, 2024, at the age of 62.

A statement shared on Keith’s website and social media platforms announced, “Toby Keith passed away peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his loved ones. He faced his battle with dignity and bravery. We kindly ask for privacy for his family during this time.”

In September 2023, Keith took the stage at the People’s Choice Country Awards and was honored with the Country Icon Award.

His musical journey began with the release of his debut album in 1993, and he gained widespread recognition for chart-toppers such as “Red Solo Cup” and “I Wanna Talk About Me.” One of his most notable tracks, “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American),” released in 2002 following the 9/11 attacks, catapulted him to fame and cemented his status as a household name.
