Hage Gottfried Geingob, a prominent Namibian politician, held the position of Namibia’s third president from 2015 until his passing in February 2024.
Geingob was the inaugural Prime Minister of Namibia, serving from 1990 to 2002, and later returned to the role from 2012 to 2015. His contributions extended to being the Minister of Trade and Industry from 2008 to 2012. Additionally, Geingob assumed the presidency of the ruling SWAPO Party from 2017 until his demise.
In November 2014, Geingob secured a resounding victory in the Namibian presidential election. He further solidified his position within SWAPO in November 2017, becoming the party’s third president with a significant majority during its 6th Congress. Taking on a regional role, Geingob chaired the Southern African Development Community from August 2018 for a one-year term.

Loini Kandume, a businesswoman, was formerly married to the late Namibian president Hage Geingob. Their high-profile marriage took place on September 11, 1993, in Windhoek, and the union produced two children – a daughter and a son.
In May 2006, Geingob initiated divorce proceedings against Kandume, and by July 2008, he was granted a provisional divorce order. Following the dissolution of his marriage with Kandume, Hage Geingob went on to marry his current wife, Monica Kalondo, on February 14, 2015, a union that persisted until his passing.
