Hugo Broos, South Africa’s head coach, has stated that the Bafana Bafana will do all they need to qualify for the 2022 World Cup play-off round.
The Bafana Bafana leads Group G currently with 13 points. Ghana is closely following on 10 points.
South Africa must win, or at least pick up a point, in Sunday’s final round of qualification at the Cape Coast stadium.
Although his team didn’t perform to his expectations against Zimbabwe, the Belgian trainer said that he trusted his players to deliver more against the Black Stars.
“We didn’t play so well on Thursday (against Zimbabwe) and it is a pity. If we had played at our level, maybe we could have scored more goals, and it would have been more difficult for Ghana,” Broos said at the pre-match media conference.
“But I also think because we didn’t play so well, the boys will be there more on Sunday and ambitious to show something. We will do everything to qualify for the next round,” he added
South Africa has not attended the Mundial since 2002. They were the hosts of the 2010 edition.
