Dame Kelly Holmes is a retired British middle distance athlete with a record of winning two gold medals in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens for the 1,500 metre and 800 metre events.
Kelly joined the British Army in 1988. She became an HGV driver in the Women’s Royal Army Corps (WRAC) then later became a basic physical training instructor. She retired from athletics in 2005 after winning in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
She has been made an honorary colonel with the Royal Armored Corps Training Regiment after retiring.

Pam Norman
Pam Norman is the proud mother of Dame Kelly Holmes. She was born in 1953. She had Kelly when she was 17 years. Her baby’s father, Derrick Holmes left the mother and the two-year-old Kelly to fend for themselves. It was not easy being a single parent with a mixed-race daughter at such a young age.
When Kelly was 4 years, her mother got married to her stepfather, Michael Norris, and had two sons; Stuart and Kevin Norris. Mick, as called by Kelly, showered all the fatherly love Kelly had missed growing up thus, she never considerably thought about her biological father.
Pam Norman got married again to her second husband, Gary Thomson, and had Penny Thomson. Kelly’s mother, Pam, died on August 7, 2017, at age 64.
Derrick Holmes
Derrick Holmes is the biological father of Dame Kelly Holmes. He is a Jamaican-born car mechanic. He left Kelly Holmes with her mother when she was only two years old. Derrick who had left Kelly reappeared in Kelly’s life after her success in the Olympics Games at Athens in 2004.
After her success, her father tried to rekindle his relationship with his daughter but Kelly who had her mother said, “My father does not matter anymore.” Her father even introduced Kelly’s younger sister, Lisa Lewis to her and they got along well.
