Ghana To Wait For Sudan-Madagascar Result To Know Quarterfinal Fate

The Black Galaxies of Ghana will have to wait with bated breath for the result of the last Group C match of the 2023 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) between Sudan and Madagascar to know their fate with regard to progressing in the competition.

The final decider will be played on Monday, January 23.

Ghana’s progress still depends on the result of the Sudan-Madagascar game, despite its 3-1 win over Sudan in its second group match on Thursday.

However, the result has put the Black Galaxies in strong stead to progress to the knockout stages.

Sudan drew first blood after the half-hour mark through Nool Al Golozi before Konadu Yiadom leveled for the Galaxies before the first-half stoppage time.

The Black Stars took the lead just after the hour mark through Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s penalty goal. Seidu Suraj added the third in stoppage to secure the win.

Ghana lost its opening game 2-1 to the competition debutants Madagascar on Sunday.

Ghana’s group has three teams after defending champions Morocco withdrew at the eleventh hour.
