Dr. Tony Aubynn, the chairman of the Black Galaxies management committee has dismissed suggestions that the unpaid bonus saga that brewed in the camp of the team is a contributory factor in its exit from the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) ongoing in Algeria.
Ghana was defeated by its West African rivals Niger at the quarterfinal stage of the competition on Saturday by two goals to nil.
Before the conclusion of their group games, there were several reports of a bonus row in the camp with the bonuses of players reportedly slashed.
In refuting the allegations that the bonus row led to the elimination of the team from the tournament, Dr. Aubynn said that the players had been paid their outstanding bonuses and per diems before going into the match against Niger.
He said there was no need to cry over spilled now but rather the time should be spent doing an introspection to correct mistakes made. He went on to say that rebuilding the team should be the main focus of all stakeholders.
Dr. Aubynn stressed the need to rebuild the team and reinforce it with new players since it is not all doom and gloom.
