Member of Parliament (MP) for the Assin Central Constituency and aspiring Flagbear of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has said he disagrees with persons who criticize Black Stars.
He is of the view that the sums paid as winning bonuses to the squad are required and justified because that act as incentives to the players to represent their country.
Honorable Agyapong argues that the players take huge financial risks when they represent the nation and that they should be given compensations that are commensurate with the risks taken.
He said he does not have a challenge with paying the players to play for the country and that the stars need to be encouraged to come home to play for the country.
The member of parliament explained that there are some players who earn as much as $40,000 per week with their club side but Ghanaians complain when they come to play for Ghana for a long period and are paid the same amount.
He added that when such a player gets injured he loses $40,000 a week, so he does not mind paying whatever it is they deserve just to motivate them to play for Ghana.
Kennedy Agyapong urged Ghanaians to stop complaining.
