Fans Slam Senegalese Referee Over Penalty Awarded Ghana In 2022 World Cup Qualifier Against South Africa

A few fans on social media took to Twitter to voice their displeasure with the penalty handed out for the Black Stars against South Africa in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

The two teams were locked in a race to be the first team in Group G in order to secure the right to participate in the play-offs.

Senegalese official Maguette Ndiaye awarded a penalty to Ghana in the opening period after Daniel Amartey was fouled by a South African defender in the goal area.

Andre Ayew scored from the spot-kick to help the Black Stars seal a place in the play-offs for 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The decision by the referee appears to have disappointed some fans, mostly South Africans, as they took to social media to voice their anger after the Bafana Bafana team lost the game.

Head Coach for Al Ahly, Pitso, were among other notable South African stars to have been adamant about the penalty awarded for the Black Stars.
