Give More Slots For Reggae Music – Ras Kuuku

Veteran Ghanaian reggae artist Ras Kuuku has called on award schemes and media houses to give more slots to reggae music.

In the view of the reggae artist, reggae as a genre is not given the needed recognition in the country, even though it preaches about positive things.

He stated that the likes of Stonebwoy, Samini, and Shatta Wale have gotten recognition outside the country but we can project more artists if we give the genre more attention here within the country.

Nwansina, 33&1, Ghetto Youth, Wo, Me Mpeabo, Kwame Nkrumah, I Love You, and Mr. Government is some of the songs the reggae artist is known for.

Ras Kuuku won the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) for Reggae Artist of the Year.
He called on persons in the event organizing space to come up with a scheme to replace Bass Awards which used to honor reggae artists.

He said the short-live Bass Awards did its best for the genre.
