I Felt Like I Had My Womb Ripped Out – Ruth Langsford Reveals How She Felt When Her Son Left For University

Famous English television presenter, Ruth Langsford has revealed that she felt physical pain watching her son, Jack Holmes leave the house for university.

The 62-year-old This Morning host said that when the 20-year-old, whom she shares with husband Eamonn Holmes, left the nest, she “felt like I’d had my womb ripped out” and was in “physical pain.”

Ruth acknowledged that she missed him so much that in the days following his departure, she would sit on his bed and “sniff” his pillow.

Speaking to Woman & Home, Ruth said, “I truly understand the pain of empty nest syndrome. The day we dropped Jack off at university, we said goodbye and, as we got around the corner, I burst into tears and Eamonn was crying too.”

“It sounds dramatic but for the next three days, I felt like I’d had my womb ripped out. It was physical pain. I was sitting on his bed, sniffing his pillow, and I kept his bedroom door shut because then I could imagine he was in there. Now it’s great. Jack seems so happy and I don’t get as upset each time he comes home and then leaves again.”
