Late Ghanaian Footballer Christian Atsu Goes Home This Weekend

Late Ghanaian footballer, Christian Atsu’s final funeral rite would be held on 17 Friday, March at the forecourt of the State House.

The former Chelsea star died tragically in Turkey following a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that hit the country on 6, February.

Atsu’s body was found under the rubble of his collapsed apartment after twelve days of relentless search.

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia led a government delegation to receive the mortal remains of the late Black Stars forward which was flown into Ghana from Turkey on Sunday 18, February.

It was during the one-week observation of his death that it was disclosed by his family that the former Newcastle United winger’s funeral and burial will be held at the forecourt of the State House.

The event is expected to be grace by government officials, active and retired footballers, members of the diplomatic community, Ghana FA officials, and several dignitaries.

Atsu had 65 caps for the Black Stars, during which he scored nine goals for the Black Stars. He was adjudged the best player at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
