Local Players Need To Improve Their Performance To Earn Black Stars Call Up – Yaw Preko

Former Black Stars forward, Yaw Preko has urged home-based players to improve their performance.

His comment comes in the wake of players in the top flight being left out of the Black Stars squad for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers against Angola.

Ghana’s national team’s new head coach, Chris Hughton named a 25-man squad on Thursday ahead of the two-legged tie against Angola.

Danlad Ibrahim and Daniel Afriyie Barnie who participated in the 2022 World Cup have been dropped from the squad.

In an interview with the media, Preko said the locally based Ghanaian footballers will have to improve their performances to be able to earn a national team call-up.

He told Oyerepa FM that the local players need to raise their game and see how it goes.
He went on to say that he does not think Chris Hughton has watched the local league enough to be inviting local players.

The Black Stars will take on Angola on 23 March in Kumasi before going for the return leg in Luanda four days later.
