Mario Batali Sexual Misconduct Allegations
In 2017, the restaurant review site Eater revealed multiple accusations of sexual misconduct against Batali, four women accused him of sexual harassment and sexual assault.
In March 2019, Batali sold all his restaurant holdings.
Batali was charged with battery and indecent assault and was set to appear in the Boston Municipal Court on Friday on May 24, 2019.
In court, the accuser described an incident that was held in March 2017 when Batali “grabbed her breasts, buttocks and groin, forcibly kissed her mouth and cheeks, and suggested they head to his nearby hotel”.
Batali pleaded not guilt to these charges and has decided to go through an in-person trial.
In July 2021, with the distinct Boston case yet to be heard by a judge, Batali, Bastianich, and their former restaurant reached a settlement agreement for the New York state case that was being investigated from the attorney general of New York wherein they would make payments of $600,000 to more than 20 employees who worked for their restaurants.
