Mario Francesco Batali is an American chef, writer, and restaurateur who was born on September 19, 1960, in Seattle, Washington, United States.
Batali co-owned restaurants in New York City; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; and Newport Beach, California; Boston; Singapore; Westport, Connecticut; and New Haven, Connecticut.
Batali has appeared on the Food Network, on shows such as Molto Mario and Iron Chef America, on which he was one of the featured “Iron Chefs”.
In 2017, the restaurant review site Eater revealed multiple accusations of sexual misconduct against Batali, four women accused him of sexual harassment and sexual assault.
In March 2019, Batali sold all his restaurant holdings.
Batali was charged with battery and indecent assault and was set to appear in the Boston Municipal Court on Friday on May 24, 2019.
In court, the accuser described an incident that was held in March 2017 when Batali “grabbed her breasts, buttocks and groin, forcibly kissed her mouth and cheeks, and suggested they head to his nearby hotel”.
Batali pleaded not guilt to these charges and has decided to go through an in-person trial.
In July 2021, with the distinct Boston case yet to be heard by a judge, Batali, Bastianich, and their former restaurant reached a settlement agreement for the New York state case that was being investigated from the attorney general of New York wherein they would make payments of $600,000 to more than 20 employees who worked for their restaurants.

In May 2022, Batali’s trial in Boston commenced, with Batali waiving his right to a jury trial and opting to have a judge decide.

Aside from being the wife of American chef, writer, and restaurateur Mario Batali, Susi Cahn was born into luxury.
The Coach Leatherwear Company was founded by her parents in the year 1961, which was later sold.
After Cahn’s parents moved upstate to the Hudson Valley, becoming crafters of artisanal goat cheeses after selling the Coach brand empire in the mid-80s.
Batali met Cahn when she was the Coach Farm’s special events coordinator, and he was a promising new chef in New York City.
The couple married in the year 1994.
Together, the couple has two children. Their two sons are Benno Batali and Leo Batali.
Despite the sexual misconduct allegations against her husband, she has refused to make any public statements.
