Our Challenge Is To Beat Ghana In Luanda On Monday – Angola Coach

Pedro Goncalves, Angola’s national team coach, is of the view that his side has the capability to beat Ghana on home soil when they faced off on Monday in the reverse fixture of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying tie.

The Palancas Negras fell to a narrow defeat to the Black Stars on Thursday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The team is now seeking to claw back to the top spot of the group with a win against Ghana on Monday.

Angola head coach Pedro Goncalves his side will put in the necessary shift to defeat Ghana who he admits is the favorite in the encounter.

He told the media that his side needs to keep its focus on these two games to stay on course. He believes they can beat Ghana although for sure will be hard – but will be hard for Ghana to beat them too.

Goncalves further stated that their challenge right now is to play and win against Ghana even if, for sure, they are the favorites of the group.

He explained that Ghana was one of five African nations at the World Cup and they definitely grew from that experience and strengthened with players from England and one of the better strikers from La Liga.

Ghana currently leads Group E with seven points from three matches.
