Strictly Come Dancing Bosses To Sign Steph McGovern for 2022 Series After Being Approached ‘A Couple Of Times’

For the forthcoming 2022 season of Strictly Come Dancing, the show’s producers are reportedly considering Steph McGovern.

The 40-year-old broadcaster admitted in 2020 that she had on a number of occasions been approached to appear on the main program but was unable to do so because of the debut of her Channel 4 midday show Steph’s Packed Lunch.

Producers, however, are hopeful that this will be Steph’s year to truly shine on the dance floor after being touted as the “ideal” choice.

“Steph has the personality and profile which makes her a perfect choice in the eyes of Strictly producers. They completely understood why she’s had to say no in the past. She was just establishing Packed Lunch on Channel 4 and wanted to give that her complete attention” a source revealed to The Sun.

Last year, John Whaite revealed that he had encouraged Steph to take up the position.

“You know I said to Steph, my friend and colleague that she should do it because she’d be great, but I don’t know if she will, I hope she will,” he said in an Instagram live session.
